The Pierro Gallery of South Orange began in 1994 as a "why not" idea of several resident artists of South Orange, New Jersey.

The timing and the setting seemed almost perfect. The village was home to a burgeoning number of visual artists and residents affiliated with the arts. The Baird Community Center, a wonderful, rambling old building housing the Department of Parks and Recreation had available space in dire need of a face lift. Why not create an art gallery?

With support from the Village’s Mayor, Board of Trustees, and Director of Parks and Recreation, the artistic vision and hard work of volunteers transformed the space into a viable art gallery. Today, the Pierro Gallery of South Orange is proudly celebrating ten years of a strong commitment to contemporary art, artists and the general community

In addition to five annual art exhibitions, the Pierro Gallery of South Orange conducts workshops, special programs, meet-the-artist afternoons and sponsors an annual holiday quilt and craft sale.
